Chocolate Pie

This recipe is all you need to satisfy your craving for a creamy chocolate pie and the filling has ingredients you most likely have in your kitchen.

The choice is yours whether you use a pre-baked pie shell or a graham cracker crust.

This recipe uses a homemade crust made with whole wheat flour and the pie filling also includes whole wheat flour. While we can’t claim this is a healthy recipe, we’ve added a little bit of nutritional value by not choosing white flour!

Chocolate Pie Ingredients:

• ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1/4 cup whole wheat flour
• 2 tablespoons cornstarch
• 1 cup water
• 2/3 cup milk
• 3 egg yolks
• 2 tablespoons melted margarine
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1 x 9-inch pre-baked or graham cracker pie crust

Also, keep on hand a double boiler, measuring cups and spoons and a whisk.

Serves: Makes 1 x 9-inch pie

Chocolate Pie Directions:

Step 1: Set up the Double Boiler

Place enough water in the bottom boiler so it doesn’t touch the top boiler. Place on high heat to bring the water to a boil.

Step 2: Add Your Ingredients

Start by putting the cocoa, flour and cornstarch into your double boiler and whisk until fully mixed. Once the water is boiling, add ½ the water and mix thoroughly. Then add the rest of the water, milk and 3 egg yolks and again, whisk thoroughly until combined.
Keep the water boiling and stir the chocolate mixture occasionally until fully thickened, but do not overcook. It should be nearly as thick as you want the finished pie to be. When you run a spoon through, it should form peeks.

Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla.

Step 3: Pour, Chill and Serve

Pour the mixture into the pie crust and place in fridge to set for about 3-4 hours. Serve with whipping cream and enjoy.

Apple Pie Recipe Ingredients:

Filling –

5 md Apples; red or golden delicious
1 1/2 c Sugar
1 tb Flour
1 ts Cinnamon or more depending –
1/2 c Water

Crust –

2 1/2 c Self rising flour
1/2 ts Salt
2/3 c Shortening
1/2 c Ice water; more or less
3/4 c Sugar
1 ts Cinnamon
1/2 c Butter or margarine

Apple Pie Recipe Instructions:

Slice apples thin into an oblong baking dish.

Mix together sugar, flour and cinnamon, sprinkle over apples. Pour water over mixture. Crust: Mix flour and salt; cut in shortening. Add enough water to hold dough together.

Roll between sheets of waxed paper. Put on top of apple mixture. Sprinkle on sugar and cinnamon (mixed together). Dot with butter cut into patties. Bake at 400~ until crust is browned and apples are tender.

You can use 2 frozen pie shells for crust and put on topping.

1 cup  dried cranberries
2/3 cup  white sugar
3 tablespoons  all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
2 1/4 pounds Pippin apples – peeled, cored and  thinly sliced
1 1/2 tablespoons brandy
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie

Apple Cranberry Pie Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C.) Position oven rack in the bottom third of the oven.

In a medium bowl, toss together the dried cranberries, sugar, flour and allspice. Mix in the apples, brandy and vanilla. Place bottom crust into a 9 inch round pie pan so that it hangs 1 inch over the edges. Pour filling into the crust and cover with top crust. Seal and flute the edges. Cut slits in the top using a small knife.

Bake in the preheated oven for 60 to 65 minutes, or until apples are tender and crust is golden.

1/3 cup packed light brown sugar
1/3 cup white sugar
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1/3 teaspoon ground cinnamon
7 1/2 cups peeled, cored and sliced apples
1 cup raisins
1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
1 egg

American Apple Pie Instructions:

Preheat oven 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Spray deep dish pie plate with cooking spray

Combine white sugar, light brown sugar, flour, lemon, cinnamon, and mix well. Add apples and raisins to sugar mixture; stir until fruit is well coated.

Spoon apple mixture into pie crust. Place second pie crust on top of filling, and trim edges. Lightly glaze top of pie with a beaten egg, then sprinkled with a little sugar.

Bake till golden brown, about 35 to 40 minutes. Place your American apple pie on a wire rack, and cool 30 minutes.

Whole chicken or about 5 breast halves
One stalk Celery
1 large onion
1 carrot
1 potato
pastry

Chicken Pot Pie Directions:

In large pot, cover chicken with water. Add salt and vegetables. Cook until chicken is very tender, about 1 hour. Remove chicken and debone. Cut into bite size pieces. Into blender put about 2 cups broth and the vegetables. Add 1 tbsp. flour and blend.

Make pastry and line casserole dish with pastry. Place chicken in dish and pour broth mixture over it. Cover with pastry. Bake your chicken pot pie at 450 degrees for about 25 to 30 minutes.

Ozark Blueberry Pie Ingredients:

FILLING:
1 (16 ounce) can whole berry cranberry sauce
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons orange juice
1/2 teaspoon grated orange peel
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 cups fresh or frozen blueberries

CRUST:
2 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground mace
1 cup shortening
6 tablespoons ice water
2 tablespoons butter
1 egg
1 tablespoon water

Cooking Instructions for Ozark Blueberry Pie:

In a large bowl, combine first eight filling ingredients. Stir in blueberries; set aside. For crust, combine flour, salt and mace in another bowl. Cut in shortening until mixture is pea-size chunks. Add ice water, 1 tablespoon at a time, and toss lightly with a fork until dough forms a ball. Divide dough in half. On a floured surface and using a floured rolling pin, roll one half to a 10-in. circle. Place into 9-in. pie pan. Spoon filling into crust; dot with butter. Roll second half of dough to fit top of pie Moisten edge of bottom crust; place top crust over. Fold edge under bottom crust; flute with fingers. Beat egg with water; brush over crust. Cut slits in top. Bake at 425 degrees F for 40 minutes or until golden brown.

Your ozark blueberry pie contains blueberries of course, on of the most powerfuel anti-oxidants, and so while not all of the ingredients are healthy, this one certainly is!
